Building Built by Floyd

Built by Floyd started as a personal portfolio, but I did not want it to feel like a normal portfolio.

A normal portfolio can feel a bit too polished. You show a few finished projects, add a short description, and hope people understand what went into them. I wanted this site to show more of the process.

The idea is to make it feel like an archive. Projects can show the sites and concepts I am building. Travel can hold trips, photos, and memories. Travel Photos can collect visual bits that do not need a full explanation. The journal gives me a place to write about the thinking behind the site and how it changes over time.

The design is intentionally simple. White background, black type, lots of space, thin divider lines, and small interactions. I want it to feel calm and easy to move through, but still have enough character to feel like mine.

The Projects page helped shape the direction. I like the archive-style list because it is clear, flexible, and easy to keep adding to. I want the Journal to work in the same way: a simple row on the main page, then a separate page for the full entry.

For now, the Journal is only about the creation of Built by Floyd. Later, I may add weekly updates about new projects, changes, experiments, and what I am learning. But it makes sense to start with the site itself.

The main aim is to have one place that shows progress over time. Not just finished work, but the decisions, mistakes, changes, and ideas behind it.
